The article outlines 7 quick tips to get value from UXCam immediately as soon as the SDK is integrated.

1. Get an overview of your app at first glance

Get a snapshot of your app in the overview section. You can select the date range you'd like to analyze and get information on the following :

  • Sessions: Total number of sessions recorded in your app within the last selected days.

  • Active Users: Number of users that used your app at least once within the last selected days.

  • Top events: The most frequently fired event in your app within the last selected days.

  • Top App Version: Most often used app version within the last selected days.

  • Session Duration: Average app session duration in the last selected days.

  • Rage Gestures: Number of rage taps by your users in your app in the last selected days.

You can click on each of the tabs to see more detailed graphs about the variables. For instance, if you click on Sessions, you will be able to see a graph displaying the amount of sessions recorded through time as well as the amount of time users spend on the app.

2. Create your first dashboard

Create your first dashboards in a few minutes using our report library or by easily building reports from scratch. Check out our user frustration template and our user insights template which offers step-by-step instructions on how to create reports from scratch.

UXCam offers hundreds of pre-made reports in the report builder. All you need to do is search for or click on the metric you're interested in and hit on add report. The report will automatically be added to the dashboard.

3. Build your first funnel with our powerful AI Suggestions

You can create a funnel with just a few clicks to track conversions within your app. Want to know what’s the average time your users take to convert? What’s the conversion rate? Let's go!

1 » Click on suggestions, you will be asked to select a screen or event which represents the end goal or conversion you want your users to achieve. (Eg. a purchase confirmation screen or payment completed event)

2 » Click on get funnels and you will be provided with 3 suggestions of complete funnels which are based on the most common paths user take to achieve the specified event/screen.

3 » Select view funnel, once you are happy with it, click on create and you are now ready to analyze your funnel!

💡Tip: Group by country or app version to compare conversion performance between different countries or analyze the success of your an app version you just released.

💡Tip: By clicking on the upper part of the graph, where drop-offs occur, you can access session replays where users abandoned the funnel. Get to the why and observe user interactions, behaviors, and potential pain points that led to their disengagement.

4. Build your first retention report to understand whether users came back after their first visit.

First time users: How many users came back to your app each week after their first visit?

Start Action: First visit

Grouped by: Week (Will group users whose start action happened the same week together in a cohort)

Return Action: App launch

Return interval: In or After Each Week

Insight: Helps understand if your customers are getting value in your app. Did you waste money to acquire these customers? Are your customers see the value immediately after using the app for the first time?

5. Start watching your users' most problematic sessions

Use the quick filters to easily find sessions with Rage tap, Rage quits, Crashes and UI Freezes. Once you click on a session replay, easily jump to where rage taps or UI Freezes are happening right on the timeline by looking for flames and snowflakes!

Improve your user onboarding with session replay

Watch closely examine the "First Sessions Segment" and pinpoint any friction encountered during onboarding. Click on "Segments" at the top of your UXCam dashboard to find some pre-made default segments including the "First session segment". Improving the first impression can really increase the engagement of your users.

💡Tip: If you'd like to watch sessions a specific user had in order, use the previous and next user session arrows. This is very useful when you want to follow the user's journey or discover how a crash impacted your user's experience.

6. Get actionable insights from heatmaps

Filter for rage taps & unresponsive gestures

Filter for these gestures to understand at first glance which area of the screen is causing most frustration to your users. You can also see what type of gestures users use on the screen (taps,swipes, zooms).

Quantify your heatmap data and deepen your analysis

Click drag and highlight the area you are interested in to watch session replays where users interacted with that area. You will also get detailed metrics concerning the highlighted area such as :

  • Number of gestures

  • Number of users interacting with the area

  • Time until the gesture was performed in the area

7. Analyze user journey with screenflows

Analyze how your users navigate through your app

Use the Screen Flow get a general understanding of how your users navigate through your app. If you have a certain flow in mind you'd like to analyze, you can change the start with and end with screens.

Understand from which screens users are quitting the app most with reverse flow.

Check the reverse flow to understand what screens your users visited before closing your app.
