Analyzing Web Sessions in UXCam
Updated over a week ago

Understanding user behavior on your website or web app is key to optimizing user experience and improving conversions. With UXCam Web, you can analyze session recordings, detect frustration signals, and uncover insights into how users navigate your site.

What is a Session in UXCam Web?

A web session in UXCam represents a user's journey from the moment they open a website or web app until the session ends. Sessions provide valuable insights into user behavior, interactions, and possible friction points.

📌 How are sessions defined in UXCam Web?

Session Start

Session End

When a user opens the web app or site.

When the user closes the tab, loses internet connection, suspends their system, or remains inactive for 3 minutes.

Identifying usability and frustration issues with Session Replay

Activity Timeline

The Activity tab provides a chronological breakdown of a user's actions during a session. The Activity Timeline allows you to filter and focus on key frustration events, making it easy to jump directly to problem areas.

How to Analyze Frustration Points:

  • Filter by events – Use the event filters in the Activity Timeline to focus on key frustration indicators like dead clicks, rage taps, etc.

  • Click on an event – Selecting an event (e.g., dead click) will take you to the exact moment in the session replay where the issue occurred.

  • Understand user behavior – See what led up to the issue, helping you identify confusing UI elements, broken functionality, or slow responses.

Common Frustration Events

  • Dead Clicks – A user clicks on an element, but nothing happens. This might indicate a broken button or misleading design.

  • Rage taps – Rapid, repeated clicks on the same area, often signaling frustration with unresponsive elements.

By analyzing these events, you can quickly find and fix problem areas in your web experience, improving usability and reducing frustration for your users.

How to follow the journey of one specific user?

Quickly jump between sessions of the same user and follow their specific journey in your side using the Previous user session / Next user session navigation.

Tip: Click on recorded URLs to directly open the page seen in the session replay.
