There are two ways you can create alerts.
- You can create alerts from reports in dashboards
- You can create alerts from scratch from any feature tab in UXCam (sessions, users, etc)
❗️Alert limit: 20 alerts per organization account. Please reach out to the support team at team@uxcam.com to increase alert limits.
Create alerts from a dashboard report
Set up alerts directly from your KPIs dashboard to stay ahead of shifts and capitalize on opportunities. Monitor user engagement, conversions, user frustration, or issues, the proactive alerting ensures you never miss a beat.
Stay informed, stay agile, and maximize your app's potential with ease.
1. Locate the report you’d like to create an alert on.
2. Click on the bell icon and select Create Alert
A report can have multiple alerts with different triggers or thresholds, so you can stay ahead of any decreases or increases, or set up a specific threshold you expect to reach (or not).
✏️ Note» You can also subscribe to alerts created by other team members. Read more about subscribing.
3. Review and customize your alert criteria.
By default, we will set up the alert with your report data (including filters), so you just need to select your trigger and threshold. The alert will have the report name by default, we suggest changing it to something that resonates better with your alert goal.
✏️ Note» If your report has groupings, the grouping attributes will be automatically added as filters so you can decide if you want to be notified about any, or a specific group result. (Time groupings are not added to alerts). Read more about groupings.
5. Selecting the trigger and threshold conditions for your alert.
There are 4 triggers you can choose from based on your needs divided by static and relative.
Static thresholds
-
When value is above: The alert will check if the current value is above a set threshold value and if it is, you will be sent an alert.
💡Tip» Use this to track goals you have for your metrics, such as active users, conversions, visits, time in app, etc.
-
When value is below: The alert will check if the current value is below a set threshold value and if it is, you will be sent an alert.
💡Tip» You can create 2 alerts for the same report when you expect your metric to be within certain values by using above and below in 2 alerts.
To help you set relevant thresholds, we’ve added a visual trend of your metric over the last 90 days. The red dotted line represents the average value for the chosen metric in the past 90 days. You can also see the minimum and maximum values.
When using above or below triggers, an area will be highlighted on the chart to indicate where exactly those values lie within your last 90 days' historical data.
Relative thresholds
- When value is increased by at least (% or #): We will compare the current value with the previous value (set by the time frame selected in the metric area: If the chosen time frame is the last 7 days, then the current value will be compared with the value from the previous 7 days.) and send an alert if the threshold is met.
- When value is decreased by at least (% or #): Similarly, we will compare the current value with the previous value (set by the time frame selected) and send an alert when the conditions are met.
✏️ Note » If you opt for the last 1 day time frame, you can compare it with either the previous day or the same day of the previous week. For example, if today is Monday, you can compare it with either Sunday (prev 1 day) or the previous Monday (same day of previous week). This feature accommodates common seasonal patterns, such as weekend fluctuations, ensuring more accurate analysis and decision-making.
6. Whom to alert: By default, you will be added as an alert recipient, but you can also add other recipient emails, including non-UXCam users.
7. Max. frequency: Select the max. frequency in which you want to receive an alert that has been triggered, choose between one per day or one per week. If you opt for once weekly and the conditions trigger an alert for two consecutive days, we will send an alert on the first day but not on the second day. Instead, we'll wait until the end of the calendar week (Monday-Sunday) and, if triggered again, we'll send the alert.
Click on Create Alert once you're done. The alert will be linked to your report and you can access it from the report or the management page.
How to create alerts from scratch
1» Navigate to the session, user, screen, or event page to create an alert from scratch.
2» Click on Create alert.
3 » Create and customize your alert criteria
-
Name your alert
-
Choose metric type
-
Choose a time frame: This defines the period of time we consider for your metric, if you select last 7 days, we will look at the value of your metric on the last 7 days.
Continue the process as indicated above when creating alerts from reports.
