In this article, you will learn about the following.
In today’s environment, it is crucial for companies and individuals to rely on data to make the best possible decisions. However, data can only be powerful if it is accessible, complete and easy to analyse. Thanks to UXCam, you will have access to data about everything that happens in your app including user data, device data, behavioral data, and performance data. How? Unlike manual tracking, UXCam created an easier, accessible, and more reliable way to capture your data. We essentially created a code, once inserted in your app, automatically captures all kinds of data. Let’s have a closer look and compare both methods of collecting data so that you really comprehend how vital auto capture is for your organisation.
Manual Tracking vs. Auto Capture
What data does UXCam capture?
Autocapture allows for every team in your organization to have access to a complete, retroactive behavioral data set to uncover actionable insights without the help of engineers. UXCam automatically captures different types of data in your mobile app for every session which can be categorized as :
- User data
- Device data
- Behavioral data
- Issues and performance data
User Data
Active users are unique users that visited your app. UXCam defines a unique user based on the Install ID, however, you can also set up your own User ID. User data are pieces of information associated with users. UXCam provides the following user data automatically.

Device Data
Device properties are bits of information associated with the user's device. UXCam provides the following device data automatically.
Behavioural Data
A session is an individual user’s activity within your app from the moment they launch the app until they close it or send it to the background. UXCam automatically captures a range of user interactions in your mobile app for every session to allow you to deeply understand your users’ behavior. What are they tapping? How long are they staying on the app? And much more!
Custom Events & Properties
Aside from what UXCam automatically captures, you can enrich your behavioral and user data thanks to custom events and user properties. If you would like to track other events or actions from your specific app such as when a user registers, or adds to Cart, you will need to send them as Custom Events. Each event can have up to 20 properties attached.
Event Properties are additional information to the events that you want to analyze to gain further insights about your users’ behavior and differ depending on the specific event. For example, for an add to cart event, properties can be : count of events, details on the product added such as category, price, quantity.
Similarly, you can also send any additional user properties you might have such as age, gender, or loyalty status. User properties allow you to have a deeper understanding of your users, create segments, and discover how behavior changes between different audiences.
Issues and performance data
UXCam automatically captures technical issues that can impact your user's experience. UXcam captures the following :
- UI freezes : indicates when the app is blocked or frozen. We detect a UI freeze when you run a process on the UI thread that takes too long and it can’t process the user input.
- Crashes : occur when there’s an unexpected exit caused by an exception or signal that has not been addressed during development. When an unexpected signal occurs, the app will crash and be forced to close.count of crashes, where the crash happened (screen), crash log
